America has had a CB service for many decades. Initially there were just 23 channels, numbers 1 to 23 below, but this was extended to 40 channels in the 1970s.

Modulation:   AM or sideband.
Carrier power:   Maximum 4 Watts carrier.
AM power:   Maximum 6 Watts peak.

Citizens Band was deregulated in the 1970s. A licence is not required.

You may only communicate over a maximum distance of 155 Miles, and may not communicate with people in other countries.
