Advice for children.

Parental guidance.
The Internet is a wonderful tool, but it can have its dangers.
Younger children should have a parent with them, as the experience of an adult may help to protect them from the dangers.
Children under 12 should obtain the consent of their parents before using e-mail forms, guest books, or any other service where information may be passed on. Teenage children may not want their parents watching them, but should at least let their parents know what information they are passing on to other people.
Parents should be aware of what information is given to who.

Personal information.
No Web site should need your full name, address or other personal information just to allow you to view their site. If a site asks for such information, when they clearly do not need it, do not give the information.
It must be remembered that such sites will not only keep any information, they may also sell that personal information to anyone who offers money for it.

Guest books.
It is important to remember that a guest book can be viewed by anyone, anywhere in the World. The information you put in such forms is available to everyone, and may be there for years to come.
What you do on the Internet now may be around for the rest of your life - and it could come back to bite you in the bottom... be careful.

Personal Web sites.
If you create your own Web site, as with guest books, it will be available to all. Even people who you don't know could get to see your site, Google and other search engines may direct people to it - and may store copies of it.
Even if you delete the site, search engines may have a copy of each page, to show to the world, which you cannot delete.
So, be very careful what you put on any Web site you create.

CB radio and safety.
When using CB, remember that it is not private... so anyone could be listening. It is unwise to give out personal details such as real name, address, or 'phone number. If you must agree to meet someone from on the CB, please do not go alone.

Enjoy the Internet and CB radio - but be safe.
