Setting up your CB.

For the citizens.
The whole idea of Citizens' Band is that it is there for the citizens. No technical knowledge of experience is needed.
This concept can be extended to the setting up of a CB station, it should not be too difficult for most adults to do. In the early days of UK CB, most people did exactly this. They connected and adjusted their equipment as necessary.

Warnings.
Although it is not difficult to connect and adjust a CB system, incorrect connection or failure to correctly carry out installation can lead to problems:
Incorrect wiring may damage the radio.
Incorrect antenna tuning may cause interference or damage the radio.
  Poor positioning may cause interference.
Poor antenna position may cause dangers.
For these reasons, the first time user should read all relevant instructions before attempting to fit up or connect a CB system. If in any doubt, contact a professional installer.

Knowledge.
As with anything in life, some knowledge is needed. As with any equipment, setting up information should usually be provided in the user's manual accompanying the equipment.
However, these manuals may not answer all questions and may not always be available. So the intention of this section is to provide any knowledge necessary to set up a CB radio station for the first time.

Help.
Over the years, I have rarely heard of CB radio stations being set up by professional fitters such as antenna installers, but help from other CB enthusiasts has been very common.
Should you run into serious difficulty, you may find help in the following places:
  Other sections of this site.
  CB related Internet newsgroups.
  CB related Internet E-groups.
  Your local dealer.
  Other local CB users.

Here to help.
