The following is intended to be a general guide to such rules, and NOT a full statement of the law. Licence. You no longer need a licence, simply connect and use the equipment. The radio You may only connect and use approved equipment. The connecting or use of non-approved CB equipment may make you liable to prosecution. You may not connect a directional antenna to a CB radio. You can now mount the antenna as high as you like, as long as you get any necessary planning permission from your local council. Microphone. You may connect any microphone you wish, but must be careful that it does not make the radio perform outside of the required specifications. RF amplifiers. It is illegal to use any kind of amplifier, whether used to boost receive or transmit signal, on the Citizens' Band. Simply connecting such equipment may be deemed proof of such activity. SWR meters. The SWR meter may only be connected while you are setting up or checking your antenna. At all other times, it should be disconnected. |
